RUNOFFS UPDATE: Introne Racing jumps 8 positions in final Qualifying, sets Speed Trap record

It's Tire Rack Pole Day for the final day of qualifying at the SCCA National Championship Runoffs and Steve Introne brought the speed with the #12 SRF3! He dropped another 0.7 seconds off his previous fastest lap time, resulting in an 8 position move up the ladder in the final grid for Saturday's Championship race. On top of that, he blazed through the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Speed Trap, which measures car speed at the end of the front straight, and set the fastest speed in the class at a whopping 130.943 MPH!
Final Grid
The final grid for the first 60 positions is now set, and the remaining 12 slots will be decided after the SRF3 Last Chance Race later tonight. When the cars take to the track on Saturday at 11:45am to determine the 2017 National Champion, Steve will be sitting in the 38th position. A significant accomplishment given the 101 SRF3 drivers here at the Runoffs represent the best of the best from all across the country.
The cooler temperatures today were a definite contributor to the faster times, as most of the drivers were able to drop their personal bests as well. John Black, former National Champion, secured the Tire Rack Pole Position for the SRF3 race, being the only driver to break into the 1:49s with his pole winning time.

National Broadcast Coverage
All the racing action at the Runoffs kicks off tomorrow morning at 8:30am. LIVE coverage of each race will be webcast through the SCCA website. This will include commentary from racing legends like Dorsey Schroeder, Rick Benjamin, Greg Creamer, and Jeff Lepper. Steve's long-time friend Heyward Wagner will be live from pit lane. As SCCA announced yesterday, Runoffs coverage is scheduled to be broadcast this December on the CBS Sports Network. The SRF3 race is currently slotted to be one included in that airing.
Introne Racing continues to thank all our sponsors (Black Hog Brewing, Inline Plastics Corp., Quality Auto Body, and Introne Communications) for their support this season. We hope to make you proud with our final performance this Saturday in the Championship race.
