Introne Racing Kicks-Off 2017 SCCA National Champions Runoffs Week

The 54th running of the SCCA National Championship Runoffs kicked off today at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Introne Racing arrived at the track three days ago to begin testing and tuning on this 14-corner, 2.592-mile road course that hosted the Formula One World Championship and the Verizon IndyCar Series’ Grand Prix of Indianapolis. The road course, of course, utilizes part of the famed oval that hosts the Indianapolis 500.

Today marks the beginning of four days of Qualifying to determine the grids for the 28 Championship races. Each class will compete in a 19-lap, 40-minute sprint race this coming weekend to determine which driver win reign as the 2017 National Champion.

This year's Runoffs is already setting records with close to 1000 entries. More than a hundred of those being SRF3 cars! A track maximum of 72 cars has required a schedule change and the addition of a Last Chance Race on Thursday night to determine which cars will make the SRF3 Championship race scheduled to take the Green Flag on Saturday, September 30 at 11:45am. The full schedule for the week can be found here.

The Spec Racer Ford series is known for its close competition. Spec cars, by design, are as close to identical as possible, which results in mere fractions of a second (hundredths and thousandths) determining the lineup.

Live coverage of all the week's action can be found on the SCCA website. This includes LIVE timing, audio and video broadcasts of all the action.

Stay tuned this week as we'll post highlights and updates as Steve Introne and the #12 SRF3, sponsored by Black Hog Brewing, Inline Plastics Corp., Quality Auto Body, and Introne Communications tries to leave his mark on this year's Runoffs at the famed Indy racetrack.
