Disappointment at Thompson Speedway

The Introne Racing team packed up and headed to Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in CT for the third SCCA Majors Tour race of the season last weekend. After arriving and setting up, Steve took to the track Friday morning for the test day. Unfortunately, as he finished his first lap of the second session, the transmission failed and he completely lost 3rd gear.

Knowing the clutch and transmission have been failing after 10-12 weekends with the higher torques and power from the new GEN3 motors, SCCA Enterprises recently released a new sets of gears that can better manage the strain. Since the #12 was on its 19th weekend, the plan was to swap out these gears after the Thompson race. Unfortunately, we didn't make it that far.

The SRF #12 is now up at Motion Dynamics in Conway, NH getting the transmission rebuilt with the new set of gears.

While Steve was extremely disappointed to miss this race and the great competition, he took some solace knowing that his track record at Thompson still stands, and no one was able to best his time during this weekend.

A blown race weekend also meant Steve and his crew were able to crack open a few Black Hog brews earlier than planned!

Steve will be back on the track in a few weeks for the NER Regional race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, August 5-6. This will be his last full weekend of racing before heading to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the SCCA National Championship Runoffs September 23-October 1. At least he'll be arriving there without any worries about a weakened transmission!

As always, we want to continually thank our sponsors: Inline Plastics Corp., Black Hog Brewing, Quality Auto Body, and of course Introne Communications.
