1st-2nd-3rd at Limerock Park

Always a track that draws the fans, the hillside overlooking the esses at Limerock Park was filled on Saturday for the New England Region/Northeast Division Double Races. The Friday/Saturday event started off Friday morning with a relatively quiet qualifying session for the SRF3s. But as the workers returned from their lunch break to start off the afternoon Qualifying Sprint races with the SRF/SRF3 grid, the weather decided to throw it's own kink into the plans. As the cars lined up, a mist turned into a drizzle. And as they rolled off the grid, that drizzle turned into a downpour. By the time the Green Flag waved from the start stand, it was pouring buckets and all 27 cars were barreling down the front straight on slick tires, as the rain tires sat idly by back in the paddock.

Steve took an early lead in the Qualifying race, despite the rain, which he held through to the end to bring home his first WIN at Limerock Park. Saturday morning brought the field back out with a dry track, and despite Steve's best efforts and leading for the first half of the race, Lee McNeish - Mr. Limerock as he's affectionately known in SRF circles - couldn't be held back and once again showed his dominance of this track and left Steve holding the 2nd place trophy. For the final race of the day, it was Steve and Rich Wiehl, in the Citgo sponsored orange #35 who battled back and forth. A photo finish, with Rich inching out Steve by a mere 0.078 seconds at the finish line, put Steve on the third step of the podium. As he was heard grumbling in impound, "I just needed one more lap!" (That's what they all say! =) )

With the successful completion of this weekend's races, Introne Racing has now secured the required qualifications to compete at the SCCA National Championship Runoffs at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in September!

We continue to thank our sponsors - Inline Plastics Corp., Black Hog Brewing Co., Quality Auto Body, and Introne Communications for all of their support. The team is busy prepping the #12 SRF3 for the next SCCA Majors Tour event at Thompson Speedway July 14-16. As we had a couple fans visit us at Limerock this last weekend, we welcome anyone else that wishes to show up and watch some great racing to join us at Thompson. We'll have a chair and some Black Hog brews waiting!
