Triple Crown: Introne Racing Debuts New Paint Scheme and Brings Home 3 Wins

It was a record setting weekend for Steve Introne and the Introne Racing crew at Palmer Motorsports Park in Palmer, MA. Kicking off the 2017 season, Introne Racing debuted its new paint scheme, as well as welcomed two new sponsors to the team. All while capturing three checkered-flags and setting a new track record not just once, but TWICE!
At first glance, the #12 SRF3 may not look very different, as the red, white and blue colors remained the same. But on closer inspection spectators noticed that the sides are now white, and the blue runs the lengths of the fenders. This beautiful paint job was courtesy of Gary Houghton at Quality Auto Body in Oxford, CT, one of our new sponsors for this season. We are also excited to announce that Inline Plastics Corporation of Shelton, CT has also signed on to provide the team with funding and assistance this year. They join our existing sponsors of Black Hog Brewing Co. and Introne Communications, both of Oxford, CT.

The weekend commenced following the heavy rains on Friday afternoon that left most of the region flooded. While there was much speculation on whether the drivers would see a dry track, all SRF/SRF3 sessions were run on dry tires. Steve took an easy lead during Qualifying Saturday morning, securing the Pole Position for all three races - one Saturday afternoon and two on Sunday. He never relinquished that P1 spot, running in 1st place from Green to Checker for every session.

Sunday morning's cool, clear weather proved ideal conditions for the SRF3, as by the end of the morning race, Steve set a new SRF3 Track Record, turning in a time of 1:43.034. Not one to settle, as the afternoon conditions stayed the same, he bested that record again and left the track with a 1:42.790 as the time to beat for future racers.
"Dropping 20 pounds of weight with a new tail piece really made a difference," Steve remarked. The tail piece, as well as sanding down all the old paint and fiberglass on the existing pieces, meant a significant weight reduction with the car. An advantage Steve was quick to utilize.

All said and done, three wins, a new track record, new paint job, and the welcoming of two new sponsors combined for a pretty spectacular debut weekend for the 2017 race season. Let's hope the momentum holds as we head to Pocono Raceway over Memorial Day weekend (May 25-28) for the SCCA Northeast Conference U.S. Majors Tour event.
